Avoid costly repairs and redesign of your structural steel with the CSI Construction Flowchart

Over the past year or two CSI has been doing considerably more work for Construction Companies.  Particularly in the area of retrofit;  finding steel in existing structures before new steel components are made to strengthen the building.

The feedback we receive is very positive as the Construction Companies have been able to make savings by not having fixings made that are incompatible.

However, that is not the end of what CSI can do to help.   If you look at the attached flowchart you will see that while the ‘design phase’ for retrofit is the best time to establish the steel layout in the existing structure; it can still be useful if CSI’s non-destructive testing is employed at a later stage.

CSI Construction Project Flowchart

We developed the flowchart to help highlight the importance of diagnostic testing and what can be achieved depending on the stage of the project.  In an ideal world, we recommend you get us in AT THE START of your project (option 1 on the flowchart) to double check what you believe the layout of the building is supposed to be.  It is quite staggering how often the “Original Plans” and/or the “As-Built” Plans are incorrect and we find that what is on the plans is not in the building.
