Contractors needed to come into the Britomart Tunnel to install the Catenary System of overhead lines, to power the trains; while missing hitting any critical steel and/or avoiding dangerous but necessary conduits
(e.g. existing power cables).
The Directors were able to scan to locate reinforcement in the beams and conduits in the hollow core slabs.
This approach enabled the smooth installation of the Catenary System and allowed timely progress for the new formatting of the tracks for the extension of the rail into the City Rail Link.
