In this blog, we discuss the importance of the compressive strength of concrete and showcase the arrival of our Ultrasonic Testing device that was delivered to our head office last month.
We trust everyone has had a relaxing and revitalising holiday break? Here at CSI, we have been part of a very busy January … record-breaking in fact. 😊
This must mean that our clients have hit the ground running as well, giving 2018 that productive feel.
It is very exciting for us to have our new Ultrasonic Testing Device (UT) arrive safely. Please see our December Blog letting you know of the UT services that are now available.
Many thanks to Daniel (CSI’s R & D Leader) and Callaghan Innovation for assisting with the research that has gone into this new service. We have seen a huge demand for the non-destructive testing applications that UT can provide. Full details of these are outlined in our 8 December Ultrasonic Testing blog and our Services Page.
We would also like to highlight our Concrete Compression Testing
Using New Zealand Standards (NZS) we can carefully extract cores and have them tested in the laboratory.
The compressive strength of concrete is very important as it is one of two vital elements in the performance of a concrete structure. One element is the tensile strength which is the steel reinforcement. For a concrete structure to be sound it requires both tensile strength and compressive strength.
The compressive strength of any material is defined as the resistance to failure under the action of compressive forces. Especially for concrete, compressive strength is an important parameter to determine the performance of the material during service conditions.
We’re excited about the year ahead and are looking forward to working with you all, helping to test the integrity of New Zealand’s structures via non-destructive testing.
