Last week CSI’s Director (Michael) and GM (Kurtis) attended the Concrete Conference held at Te Papa (12 – 14 October 2017) in Wellington.

It was a well patronised and diverse affair this year.  With potential providers varying from Trucking Companies, to Flooring Experts, to Concrete Producers, to Concrete Wrapping Specialists and our particular interest; Non-Destructive Testing Experts.  The list goes on!

Danley Systems were there, offering revolutionary solutions for industrial flooring and pavements that are designed, tested and engineered for maximum performance.  This was particularly interesting because Danley Systems showcased their procedures with an awesome display, they had some great systems in crack control and joint edge protection that looked as if they would be easy to install at the construction stage.

It was pleasing to see that the Textile Centre Project in Auckland was put forward for the Concrete Awards this year.  CSI did a considerable amount of testing on this wonderful old structure and due to the upgrades recently completed it looks amazing.

It was also nice to bump into Concrete Plus and Fosroc representatives at the conference.  We have worked previously with Concrete Plus providing corrosion solutions on infrastructure projects.

Arguably one of the most interesting developments was Virtual Reality Sets for looking through building plans.  You get a 3-D view and can see the reinforcing as if you were standing over the steel frame of a building.  These headsets gave you the opportunity to believe you could reach out and actually touch the steel.

If you wish to see for yourself we have added a link here to both the technical programme and the social programme for the recent Concrete Conference and you will be able to get a more comprehensive list of both the key note and other speakers.  This may generate some interest amongst our clients to attend next year’s Conference perhaps?.

If you have any questions on the recent concrete conference or just any concrete questions in general just drop us a note in the comments section at the end of the blog post or feel free to call us on 0800 33 77 67 or email info@csiscan.nz
