Anchor Testing Solutions

CSI provides practical, site-specific anchor testing services to help engineers, asset owners, and contractors verify the performance of critical fixings. From standard proof-load testing through to complex custom test setups, our approach is designed to deliver reliable data with minimal disruption to building operations.

Pull Testing (Tension Testing)

Pull testing confirms an anchor’s ability to resist tensile loads acting perpendicular to the substrate. Using calibrated hydraulic equipment, a controlled load is applied to verify installation quality, anchor capacity, and compliance with project requirements. Testing can be completed as a proof-load test or, where required, taken to failure to determine ultimate capacity.

Shear Testing

Shear testing assesses an anchor’s ability to resist loads acting parallel to the substrate surface. It is commonly used for façade systems, seismic restraints, cladding supports, and structural connections where in-service loading needs to be confirmed. Where access restrictions or site constraints prevent conventional testing, CSI can design custom reaction frames and test arrangements to suit the application.

Custom Testing Solutions

When Standard Testing Methods Are Not Enough

Not all anchors can be tested with conventional equipment. Existing buildings often present challenges such as restricted access, concealed fixings, complex load paths, or architectural finishes that cannot be disturbed.

CSI specialises in developing custom testing solutions that verify anchor performance in challenging environments while maintaining a practical, safe, and repeatable test methodology.

Our customised testing methodologies can include:

  • Bespoke reaction frames
  • Multi-anchor load distribution systems
  • Façade retention testing
  • Cladding restraint verification
  • Structural connection assessments
  • Seismic restraint testing

These solutions provide dependable test data while helping minimise disruption to building users and preserving existing finishes wherever possible.

Reliable Data for Informed Decisions

Anchor testing gives engineers, asset owners, and contractors confidence that critical connections are performing as intended.

Whether verifying a single anchor or assessing an entire façade retention system, pull and shear testing provide evidence-based information to support structural assessments, compliance requirements, design validation, and ongoing asset management.

CSI provides comprehensive written reports that can include photographic documentation, test results, load-time graphs, test setup details, and clear commentary on the outcomes.
